Schedule for 2015
Unless otherwise indicated, all meetings are held at the Loyalhanna Watershed office in Ligonier.
This schedule is subject to change due to weather and other factors.
The Forbes Trail First Cast Fly Fishing & Conservation Youth Group is now underway. This year, there are 9 kids and 4 adults enrolled. Our award winning program may be the most comprehensive one of its kind. Members learn fly tying, fly casting and fly fishing techniques. Trout biology and behavior and stream ecology are also covered. The kids also get to participate in an on-stream kick net macroinvertebrate study and an electro-fishing survey. There’s on-stream instruction, a fishing outing and FTTU mentors share their experience with fly fishing tackle, knots and trout catching tactics. We also organize a steelhead fishing trip to a Lake Erie tributary in the fall.
Fly tying vises and tools and complete fly rod and reel outfits are available for loan at no cost to those who don’t have their own.
