LHTT Poker Run

Some more photos coming in from Poker Runners who’ve been out fishing, but there are still lots of blank slots on the scoreboard that need check marks so let’s get out there fishing in the Laurel Highlands.
Don’t forget to include some comments about your fishing trips. Fish stories permitted!

Allison Lunko has been busy lately visiting six Trout Trail streams. Her comments:
“Clear Shade Creek. What a gem! The most beautiful and enjoyable of the 6 locations I’ve hit so far.  My dog and I made a day of it walking and hitting all the spots upstream. Only “drawback” was the hot sunny day without a cloud in the sky.  I saw all the fish and they all saw me.  Boy were there a lot of big fish everywhere! Slow drifts in the glassy water upstream brought the fish up to check my flies only to say no thanks, not today.  Lol”

“Loyalhanna. My home town stream. Usually only fish here for delayed harvest. Big beautiful fish here! Saw a few but didn’t catch anything that day.”

“Stonycreek. Fished here in the past with pretty good success.  I stopped here for the Run after my beautiful day at Clear Shade Creek. I wasn’t expecting the river to still be blown out and not really fishable. Oh well… next time!”

Laurel Hill. One of my favorite spots for delayed harvest and easy access.  Lots of people since it was a beautiful day.  Caught two nymphing. Not a lot of bugs hatching.

“Indian Creek. I’ll admit, it’s not my favorite stream.  Usually my last choice for nearby delayed harvest locations. So many bushes and downed trees up stream.  Caught a small bow a little downstream.”

I saw a couple of trout slurping them up, but they weren’t interested in my fly. Still, it was such a peaceful and memorable evening on the water."

The Schultheis Family visited Loyalhanna Creek. Angie said they saw a lot of fish and caught a few. Conditions were lower and more clear than expected. Recent rains will have changed all that though.

Lisa Hilliard has hit two streams so far, Indian Creek and Meadow Run.
