Learn about FTTU history or reminisce about the good old days, Russ took photos from almost the very beginnings of the chapter.

Have any old/vintage tackle? Bamboo fly rods, old reels or accessories? Bring your articles to the meeting for an evaluation. We’ll have reference materials and we’ll see if we can find some information or a value for your stuff!

Steelhead season is upon us and if you are planning a trip to the Lake Erie tributaries, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has an on-line tool to locate access points.
With funds from the lake Erie license stamp, the PAF&BC is always working on purchasing property or acquiring easements to improve angler access. The map tool is available  HERE.
This is the most up-to-date resource showing public access on the Lake Erie tributaries.

Monthly water testing at the mouth of Rock Run was done on October 6.
pH came in at 6.5
Alkalinity was 4.2
Water temperature was 59 degrees F
Air temp was 64 degrees F
Linn Run gauge was at 2.23 and the discharge was 47 ft.³/sec
Conditions on Rock Run were high and clear

The by-laws of FTTU were amended at the October meeting. The chapter’s fiscal year has been changed from October 1 to September 30 to April 1 through March 31. The change was necessary to keep in step with TU national which initiated the change. Annual financial reports will be filed by November 15, 2018 as usual and will be followed by an 18 month fiscal year to adjust to the new schedule.

FTTU officers for 2018-19 were confirmed at the annual meeting on October 3. They are:

President – Larry Myers of Greensburg

Vice President – Denny Hess of Irwin

Treasurer – Monty Murty of Laughlintown

Secretary – Scott Minster of Derry Township

Additionally, past president Monty Murty has been elected Executive Vice President of the PA Council’s SW, NW and NC regions.

FTTU’s annual meeting will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Nimick Family Education Center – 6 Old Lincoln Highway West, Ligonier, PA.

Here we will set our line up of officers and directors, review the chapter’s finances and budget and projects for 2018-19.

After the business meeting, we will have a roundtable on steelhead fishing and a fly tying session. If you have a favorite or unique steelhead pattern, bring your materials and share it with us. Extra vises and tools will be available for those who would like to try fly tying.
